Sealer penetration in a mandibular premolar

Case description

This easy case demonstrates how even in simple straight canals, the continuous irrigation with the Self-Adjusting File can provide excellent results.

Coronal glidepath was created using #25/.10 and #25/.08 rotary orrifice shapers. Then glidepath to working length was achieved by #15 and #20 hand files, with NaOCl irrigation in-between.

The SAF was operated for 4 minutes with continuous NaOCl irrigation.

The final obturation x-ray demonstrates the penetration of sealer into an unexpected lateral canal.

About Dr. Adam Zawadka 

Dr. Adam Zawadka graduated from the K. Marcinkowskiego Medical Academy in Poznan, in 2002. After his internship, he worked in private clinics in Poznań and Swarzędz.

He operates his private clinic since 2007, and his specialized clinic concentrates on endodontic care and endodontic surgery, pediatric dentistry and dental aesthetics, including the use of a dental microscope.

He is a specialist in pediatric dentistry since 2011.

Dr. Zawadka is a member of the Polish Endodontic Society (PTE), European Society of Endodontics (ESE) and the International Association of Dental Traumatology (IADT).
